In partnership with Future Academy, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and the Autism Community Network (ACN), an organisation providing support to families and autistic individuals, the Sydney Autism Community Lions Club Inc. has brokered an agreement to provide free accredited First Aid classes (HLTAID003) to young adults who are on the autism spectrum.
With the support and assistance of the ACN, the SACLC will recruit autistic youths to study the one-day First Aid course at Future Academy. While Future Academy has provided a heavily discounted rate for the course, SACLC will subsidise the remaining amount .
The main purpose of this agreement is to empower autistic youths through taking the First Aid class which will make them more employable in many industries. In the near future, SACLC hopes to broker a wider agreement encompassing more courses such as Responsible Service of Alcohol, Responsible Conduct of Gambling and Food Safety.
The first inclusive First Aid course at Future Academy will take place in the coming weeks.
