With amazing support from Lions Clubs and the wider community, the Sydney Autism Community Lions Club, which is the first of its kind in Australia and the second in the world, has finally launched.
On the night of the 27th of October, 2018, at the Parra Villa Function Lounge in Parramatta, NSW, the young club celebrated its charter event among a host of family, friends, neurodivergent individuals and Lions Clubs members from our district and districts further afield.
The event was marked by the different way it was organised in an attempt to cater for the vast majority of neurodivergent individuals who thoroughly enjoyed their time.
However, this did not inhibit everyone else from enjoying their time either: the event included a variety of activities such as a neurodivergent art show, a silent auction for artworks and other valuable services by members of the club, a trivia quiz, a huge raffle draw and a very interesting arts and crafts activity.
All in all, the event marked the beginning of a very different kind of Lions Club which will add to and enhance the noble legacy of Lions Clubs International.
