Lions Autism Media Project: Autism in the Time of COVID

SACLC have been collaborating with our siblings at the Melbourne Autism Lions Club on an exciting new project we have dubbed the Lions Autism Media Project, or LAMP for short.

Our goal for LAMP is to create a place for members of the ever-growing Lions Autism Community to work on and share skills on media projects such as:

  • Short Film / Video
  • Animation
  • Documentaries
  • Photography
  • Graphics
  • Drawing / Painting

We see it as an opportunity to make our Autistic voices heard far and wide!

We kicked off the project last month at our first joint meeting. We resolved to create a feature-length documentary on the collective lived experience of various Australian Autistic people and how they have been coping with the coronavirus pandemic.

The plan for now is to focus on interviewing members of our respective clubs. However, if you are on the spectrum yourself and would like to participate, do get in touch! Once we have collected enough footage, we will edit it together. At this stage, we have no idea when (or even if) it will be finished, but we hope to premiere it sometime next year.

In the meantime, we are proud to share with you our very first video in the LAMP series, created, shot, edited and narrated by our very own Ilya. It’s a concept video, which will give you a taste of what to expect!
